About MZiNe
MZiNe is a community-driven publication focused on Montriond, Morzine and the surrounding mountain areas. We share stories, local knowledge, practical tips, weather, piste & trail reports through real voices of the people who live, work, and holiday here.
Content is community driven, we are not a business looking for likes, follows and an ever expanding audience, rather we provide a platform to the community for locals and visitors alike, financed by passion, love and the community in which we live. We depend on community contributions for content and welcome anyone to participate by providing content or offering ideas and requests.
The idea for MZiNe came about after a night in a Pub when two friends talked about the media, profit, Thomas the Tank, new age travelers & soundsystems powering the free party movement with an ethos of partying without the cost. Combine the conversation that night with inspiration from other publications, online groups and communities local people have created and places that bring the community together and the idea of MZiNe was created, a year later here we are launching autumn interseason 2026.
Finally we want to give a big shoutout to some of the people that influenced the creation of MZiNe through the groups you create and/or maintain: Kyle for creating the legendary Morzine Crew Talk to Me group on Facebook & the team of moderators who keep it running free from spam and negativity, its such a useful & special group its the primary reason I am back on Facebook; James for creating Morzine Solo’s & Friends as well as the team that keeps it alive out of winter and helps make the group so welcoming and friendly, such a great group welcoming people to town looking for a ski buddy or some socials; David from Morzine Runners, inviting people week in week out for a Saturday morning run and coffee, all levels welcome, no one ever gets left behind which is super; Amie for her work bringing independent business owners together with the “Alpine Collective” and her fantastic publication “Morzine Source” that graces the tables of holiday chalets promoting and supporting the businesses of our amazing community; The Val d’Isere Echo, a publication and only inspiration from outside our valley touted as “The original guide to l’Espace Killy. Run by local insiders for 11 years there’s something for everyone from the pistes to the dance floors (and beyond).” Mzine was created very much with the less than serious spirit of the Echo in mind, in fact the founder of MZiNe wrote their first piece of published work in the Echo with a story that would be far too risky for a modern day audience, its likely it would have got cancelled before release; Finally, Alisha and Fleck, The Marmotte’s not a community group but it is definitely a community space possibly the best pub in the France, probably the best beer garden view in the world but its the people and community there that make it so special.
If you are one of the people on this list then a big thanks to you, MZiNe might not have come about if it weren’t for your inspiration building community groups and the thought that actually this is a community that would hopefully support a community platform like MZiNe.
Server costs and development are covered by the founder but if you would like to make a donation or buy them a coffee it would be very much welcomed, link in the footer.
